This smell reminds me of nights spent in strange bars and dark cities of days that remain uncountable and of mornings that never existed it brings forth pulsating movements vociferous beats penetrating feet deep sounds in perpetual crowds it reminds me of other smells the dampness of rain on summer concrete of whiskey, too much whiskey perfume and sweat and tobacconists with poorly wrapped paper flowers drinking liquorish from the spout of coffee or tea and soft skin so icy and thin our feet buckled onto the floor a door left ajar to remember these things I wished to rescind

From the darkest chasms of the UK's underground heavy music scene comes four brutal, intense and mind-melting tracks of drone, doom and noise.

This four way split comes courtesy of the collective Catafalque (featuring members of The Dead Yesterdays, Mastiff and Gnarl), and three solo artists in Malvost (Bloodswamp, Skullthrone), Bogwych (Gozer, ex-Ba'al) and The Owl (Morbid Beauty, Sloth Hammer, Gets Worse).

Each artist draws out a unique style of abstract heaviness on their respective tracks. Reaching into the depths, they conjure up four distinct blends of slow droning guitars, mesmerising demonic vocals, thundering vivid bass and punishing discordant noise that leave you with an acidic after-taste of doom, sludge and black metal. The stunning yet murky visuals that accompany the record tie in to both the harsh and depressive themes, as well as the epic nature of these sonic fields.

The record is released on Friday 12th November 2021 and will be available on CD via Owlripper Recordings (owlripperrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/orr007-4-way-split), as well in digital format.

Cassette tape via Trepanation Recordings will be released 17th December.

Grabbed this on Bandcamp whilst watching it being played live at The Dome. Tears welled up as the final crescendo peaked and had it been the end of my cycle, I would have happily spontaneously combusted, I then realised it was only dawn and the first of the triptych, so I will soldier on, at least until dusk and endure another two stellar opus’s before I can embark on that final journey. One of the most thought provoking albums I have heard in that you usually are not required to think whilst when listening to drone doom.You certainly will be thinking whilst digesting the lyrical content of the first track.An incendiary attack on organized religion,duality of human nature,free will.The second track,at first seems to conform to perceived notions of the genre,similar to the mighty Bong. But it gradually opens its wings and it is truly majestic.Brilliant! Michael Carter
